The project to expand the industrial complex in Aveiro focused on increasing the efficiency of the logistics process and the distribution and supply chain. It was divided into 2 phases: the construction of a logistics warehouse and the construction of an automated warehouse, which, once completed, gave OLI a production and logistics area of over 40,000m2.
One of the project’s largest challenges was the fact that all the work was carried out while the factory was still operating, which meant that the team had to prepare for minimal impact on the company's normal activity and to guarantee the safety of everyone working at the complex.
The project also included the construction of an administrative and social block. It is based on the principle of minimising the building's ecological footprint and energy sustainability, with the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof and façade of the automated warehouse, providing the building with energy self-sufficiency. This ensures that the new facilities combine sustainability and energy self-sufficiency.
